This real-time character project was created in Unreal Engine 5.6 to showcase a high-fidelity likeness of Keanu Reeves as John Wick.
The project focuses on realistic character representation through advanced key features include: multiple hair grooming variations, a library of reference-based sculpted facial blendshapes, fully simulated clothing, and dynamic costume materials designed for real-time performance.
All character body animations are manual hand keyed animations with also the inbetween blending animations between poses, and all the cinematic videos are 20% of them are generated via MetaHuman Animator plugin, and 80% manual tweaking to fit the same look of the real cindematic videos.
All the skin and cloth shaders were developed from scratch with a fully procedural and region-based workflow, providing precise artistic control over the head, body, and clothing materials while maintaining a strong focus on optimization.
The showcase includes an interactive presentation UI demonstrating the character's modular game-ready system. Users can customize character components, adjust lighting setups, switch post-process LUTs, and evaluate facial reflectance under different lighting conditions.
The project packaged game project also supports real-time facial interaction through webcam tracking and Live Link integration.
